TMU chief ordered to ensure
smooth traffic flow in Sum-Ag

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday ordered Traffic Management Unit c hief, Insp. Luisito Acebuche, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic at the Araneta Highway in Barangay Sum-Ag where road repairs are being conducted, acting on complaints from commuters there.

The DAILY STAR has also received complaints from commuters that vehicles are slow in moving, and sometimes, it takes about 20 minutes for vehicles to leave the area.

Acebuche said they have already added several traffic enforcers in barangays Pahanocoy and Sum-ag, where the bridges are being repaired.

He said vehicles, except huge trucks, going to barangays Sum-ag and Punta Taytay and towards the southern part of Negros Occidental, use the old bridge, while those going north pass the new one.

Acebuche appealed to the public to bear with the inconvenience caused by the bridge reconstruction as it is almost done.*SGG

Dead man found
in EB Magalona

The body of a man with several stab wounds was found in the Malugo River, Hacienda Manalo Uno, Brgy. Cudangdang in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, at about 6 a.m. yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Konnan Tampos of E.B. Magalona Police Station, identified the fatality as Rey Francis Ronquillo, 20, of Hacienda Cudangdang 4, Brgy. Cudangdang in the town, who sustained stab wounds in the chest, back and neck.

His remains were brought to the Lourdes Funeral Parlor in Brgy. 3, E.B. Magalona, and the police are still investigating the case to determine the assailant and the motive for the killing, Tampos said.*Shiela G. Gelera

4 suspects arrested

Four men wanted for serious physical injury, grave coercion and grave threat charges were arrested in Bacolod, Silay and Bago, Negros Occidental, recently.

Silay policemen apprehended Arnold Genon, 22, at his house in Purok Bayanihan, Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay, at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, police records show.

Genon was arrested by virtue of the warrant of arrest for serious physical injury charges, issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Eunice Tan Cuansing, who set his bail at P6,000.

In Bago City, Orlando Prado, 52, of Hacienda Margarita, Brgy. Taloc, was nabbed for grave coercion raps at about 5 a.m. Monday, on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Herminigildo Octaviano, who set his bail at P12,000, city police officer-in-charge, Supt. David Cachumbo Jr., said.

Cachumbo said they also arrested farmer Greg Carpentero, 41, of Purok Malipayon, Brgy. Sagasa on Monday, by virtue of the warrant of arrest for serious physical injury, also issued by Octaviano, with bail set at P12,000.

In Bacolod City, Jan-Jan Ormeo, 21, of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Bata, was nabbed at about 11:15 a.m. Monday for grave threat, Station 3 commander, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, said.

The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 41 Judge Ray Alan Drilon, who set Ormeo's bail at P12,000, Aquitania added.*SGG
