Fire hit 234 houses in puroks Katilingban and Kawayan, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, yesterday, leaving P3 million in damages, Chief Insp. Bartolome Beliran, Bacolod fire marshal said.

Out of 234 houses, mostly made of light materials, Beliran said, 94 were destroyed and the rest were damaged. No casualties or injuries were reported, he added.

ILOG – “The cry of the people is justice".

That was the resounding message on two 20 by 10 feet billboards unveiled in Barangay Manalad here yesterday at the site where Kabankalan Judge Henry Arles was murdered as he drove home in the evening of April 24 last year.

His children, Philip and Ma. Estelita “Ria” Arles, yesterday called on President Benigno Aquino and the Department of Justice to help ensure that justice is attained for their father.moremoremore

No quorum at
Neg. Occ. SP again

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Still no quorum, but Board Member Salvador Escalante yesterday said the proposed budget of the provincial government of Negros Occidental for 2013 may be approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan after the May 13 elections.

With barely two weeks before the elections, Escalante, chairperson of the SP Committee on Finance and Appropriations, said his colleagues are now busy with the campaign.

The SP regular session, that was presided over by Board Member Mae Javellana, was immediately adjourned yesterday again for lack of quorum. Present, aside from Escalante and Javellana, were only Board Members Rene Gustilo, Miller Serondo and Jose Benito Alonzo.moremoremore
