55 employers to
join job fair

About 55 local and overseas employers are expected to join the Department of Labor and Employment May 1 jobs fair for Negros Occidental at SM City Bacolod, Ponciano Ligutom, DOLE regional director, said yesterday.

Forty local companies and 15 recruitment agencies will represent overseas employers during that jobs fair at SM, Ligutom said.

DOLE, SM-Bacolod, and the Bacolod Public Employment Service Office are conducting pre-registration service for a easier job seeking process.

During the pre-registration, the applicants will be matched with companies, based on their skills and qualifications, Ligutom said.

However, applicants were dismayed on the new DOLE process where they are limited to apply to certain companies during the job fair.

We will provide a list of applicants whose skills match with the needs of a certain employer and if the jobseeker’s name is not there, he will not be entertained,” Ligutom said.

It will just be a waste of time if employers interview those who do not meet their standards, he also said.

Those who participated in the pre-registration will be accommodated first during the job fair, he added.

The activity is in cooperation with DOLE, SM-Bacolod, PESO-Bacolod, and ABS-CBN Bacolod.*LTG
