A supporter of the United Nationalist Alliance was shot dead in Barangay Dayoyo, Jimalalud town, Negros Oriental, recently.

Jimalalud mayoralty bet Dante Zamora yesterday identified the victim as Manolo Fabillar, a barangay political leader in the town, and the suspects as Flaviano Tangaro, Florendo Badayag of Barangay Eli, La Libertad; and Benjie Bolhano, of Sitio Buyog, Barangay Pacuan, Jimalalud.

He said the suspects have been charged before the Provincial Prosecutor Office for the death of Fabillar, and for violating the Omnibus Election Code. They are now detained at the Jimalalud Police Station.

Zamora said he believes the incident was politically motivated, and will report it to the Commission on Elections so the town can be declared a hotspot area.*RG
