Vice President Jejomar Binay attended the 93 rd birthday celebration of former Rep. Herminio Teves (Neg. Or., 3 rd District) yesterday at Essencia Hotel in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Binay said former Congressman Meniong is the “Grand Old Man” of Negros Oriental and is considered an icon and a source of wisdom for those entering politics.
He added that if he could reach the age of 93, he will die a happy man as it is rare to see people reaching that age with the endurance to climb stairs and even play golf, like Teves.
Teves said he is grateful that Binay accepted his invitation, and that he prays for more healthy years so he can help campaign for Binay in 2016.
He also challenged the younger politicians, including his son, gubernatorial candidate Gary Teves, to always respect the leaders who were voted, regardless of party affiliation.
Also present was Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2 nd District), first district congressional candidate Jerry Paras, city, town and barangay officials and supporters.*MA
