Ex-con charged for robbery

An ex-convict was charged before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office yesterday for allegedly robbing the house of a policeman in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod on Wednesday.

Station 4 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales, identified the suspect as Reggie Clamor, 21, of Banga Sambag, Brgy. Ma-ao in Bago City, Negros Occidental, who had served a jail term for a robbery offense in 2010.

Rosales said Clamor ransacked the house of Senior Police Officer 2 Alex Sullesta, 52, of Capitol Hills Subdivision, Brgy. Estefania in Bacolod, of items worth around P55,000 at about 12 a.m. Wednesday.

Sullesta, assigned at the Intelligence Branch of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, said he was awakened by the barking of his dog, and when he checked his property, he saw Clamor under his vehicle in the garage, police records show.

The police recovered from Clamor a Samsung Netbook, an Acer Aspire Netbook, a Seiko Gold wristwatch, Blackberry and Nokia cellular phones, the records added.

Clamor told the DAILY STAR yesterday he did not enter the house and steal the valuables because he was too drunk when the incident happened. But he could not explain why he was at the garage of the policeman.

Meanwhile, a suspected thief was nabbed by the police after a brief chase at Hilado Street in Bacolod, at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Jovil Sedel, identified the one arrested as Antonio Minase, 38, of Brgy. 19, Bacolod, who reportedly stole the cellular phone of Risen Villaren, worth P2,400, while they were on board a public jeepney at Burgos Street.

Villaren said the suspect contacted her and asked for P500 in return for the cellphone.

Villaren sought the help of the police and an entrapment operation was planned by Station 2 cops that led to the arrest of Minase, and the recovery of the cellular phone and an 8-inch improvised knife, Sedel added.*SHIELA G. GELERA
