We’ll never surrender
Anti-RH law forces say
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A rain-drenched crowd of about 6,000 formed a sea of red at the Bacolod Public Plaza Saturday afternoon to call for the repeal of the Reproductive Health Law, and to go “Team Buhay (Life) forever, Team Patay (Death) never.”

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra, who led the rally, yesterday said it was very inspiring and they were all very happy with the turnout.

Asked if that meant there will be a Catholic vote in the May 13 polls, Navarra said: “God knows, we just do our part”.moremoremore

Witnesses to
killing surface
BY
GILBERT BAYORAN

Two alleged eyewitnesses in the spate of killings in Escalante City, Negros Occidental, apparently bothered by their conscience surfaced on Saturday.

The two witnesses, whose identities are being withheld, were presented by Renecio Espiritu, counsel of the victims, during a media conference in Bacolod City.

They, however, refused to name the persons involved in series of Escalante killings, pending the filing of amended complaints of murder and frustrated murder against the suspects today. moremoremore

‘West Negros not losing’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

“West Negros University is not financially losing”

The statement was made by Dr. Lloyd Bautista, WNU vice president for academic affairs, Saturday in reaction to rumors that the institution is losing and that is why its management is looking for investors.

There is an ongoing negotiation between the Agustin family in Bacolod City, owner of the institution, and STI Holdings for the inking of a memorandum of agreement for the acquisition of a controlling stake in WNU Corp. as shown in the disclosure of STI as reported by the Philippine Stock Exchange last week.moremoremore
