Nurses’ list-up,
oath-taking set
The registration of nurses who passed the licensure examination in June will be held by the Professional Regulation Commission after the oath-taking rites in separate venues in the Western Visayas, a press release from the PRC Iloilo said.
Nurses from the St. Anthony College in Roxas City, Capiz, will have their oath-taking on August 6, and should file for their initial registration with the PRC Iloilo On-The-Road team that will be hosted by the Filamer Christian University on August 5-7. Other new nurses in Roxas City and Capiz may inquire from their school deans on their schedules of oath-taking, the press release also said.
Residents of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental will have their swearing-in rites, 9 a.m. on August 19, and the initial registration will be held immediately after until August 20. The venue will be announced later.

Feeding benefited
250 in Escalante
About 250 children and adults availed of the feeding programs of the 3rd Civil Military Operations and 62nd Infantry Battalions, in tandem with a local government unit, in several haciendas in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
1Lt. Gizelle Lim, 3rd CMO Battalion Public Affairs Office chief, said the activities were conducted in seven consecutive Saturdays, and started on June 15 until July 27, in haciendas Aya, Carmensian, Baldoza, Mocabog 2, San Martin, Mocabog and Vito, all in Escalante.
Lim said the activities were in line with the nationwide celebration of nutrition month, on the theme “Gutom at Malnutrisyon: Sama-sama nating Wakasan.”
She said nutritious meals in the feeding activity that included hot porridge and bread were prepared and served by the barangay nutrition scholars, parents, and 3rd CMO Battalion personnel.
Escalante barangay captain Sabeniano Saura was quoted in a statement issued by the 3rd CMO Battalion, saying, “This endeavour aims to lessen malnutrition and alleviate hunger among the children and adults of the barangay.”
Saura also thanked the Escalante city government and 62IB and 3rd CMOB for the success of the activities.
Lt. Col. Patrick Cinco, commander of 3rd CMO Battalion vowed to continue the humanitarian activity to encourage the people to exercise the culture of “bayanihan” in delivering basic services to the less fortunate and also in advocating peace and development in the area.*GPB back to top

Children’s Book Day
The Children’s Book Day celebration was held by the Negros Occidental Provincial Library Wednesday, a press release from the Capitol said.
It was attended by 13 preparatory pupils from Mt. Carmel Kinder School and 20 daycare pupils from Barangay 4, who are beneficiaries of the Bantay Bata 163.
The event was in line with the 30th National Children’s Book Day observance, and included games and storytelling sessions by Bago City fire marshal Pamela Rojane Candido, Arthur Christoffer, Charisse and Choi Marañon, principal Kathleen Cristales and administrator Natalie Lacson of the Mt. Carmel Kinder School, and provincial librarian Joyce Deloso, the press release also said.
Deloso said the activity aims to encourage children to appreciate the value of reading books despite the advent of technology methods in education, the press release added.* back to top
Dance tilt elimination tomorrow
Ten elementary and high school students will showcase their dancing skills in the second elimination round of the “Juicy Cologne” dance competition at the Robinsons Place Bacolod activity center, 3 p.m. tomorrow, a press release from organizers said.
The third elimination is on August 17. Two winners each from the elementary and high school will advance to the grand finals on August 31, the press release also said.
The grand champion in each category will receive P15,000 in cash and gift packs from Cosmetique Asia Corporation, maker of Juicy Cologne, in the event organized by TMX travel and marketing experts, the press release added.*
