Gilas vs. Japan tonight in
FIBA Asia 2nd round

Notwithstanding the heartbreaking 79-84 loss against Chinese Taipei Saturday night, Gilas Pilipinas advances into the second round and will face Japan tonight at 8:30 p.m. of the 27th FIBA Asia Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Filipinos landed at No. 2 in Group A, after conquering Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, 78-66, and getting past Jordan, 77-71, to secure a spot in the second round.

Taipei swept the group with a 3-0 record, while Jordan managed to book the final ticket with a 63-47 win over Saudia Arabia.

Fil-Sino basketball title

With the championship trophy on the line, a three-point play completed by Ritchie Militante allowed Huminova Tigers to key their victory against AACI Trading, 80-77, and bring home the Class A crown of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inter-color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym, Friday night.

In the Class B titular showdown, Basecom eked out a 77-72 win against the hard fighting 7-man Royal Star Trading lineup to be the tournament’s best team in their division.

The final game between Huminova Tigers and AACI Trading was highlighted by a nip and tuck battle in the payoff quarter with RB Chua hitting a top of the key trey to give the Tigers a 76-75 lead.
