PEMO steps up security
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Negros Occidental Provincial Management Officer, Wilfred Ramon Peñalosa, claimed that security measures improved at their office after their warehouse was robbed last week.

Peñalosa said they added new security guards from another agency, changed the locks and door knobs, and requested police visibility from the Bacolod City Police Office and Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office to ensure that the incident will not be repeated.

They also enhanced the office policy on withdrawal of stocks and inventory, repaired the warehouse by adding steel grills, transferred valuable items to the PEMO library and stockroom, he said.

However, Peñalosa declined to comment on the initial investigation report showing that the incident could be an inside job, and said he will wait for the official result of the probe by the National Bureau of Investigation.

Provincial chief of staff Jose Ma. Valencia said that last week they sought the help of the NBI to find out if it was an inside job because the thieves seemed to know where the items were kept.

The Bacolod City Police Station 2 personnel, who conducted the initial investigation at the crime scene, reported that several boxes of sardines and noodles and other gadgets valued at P280,853 were stolen.*APN
