An ordinance requiring all cooperatives operating within Bacolod City to secure clearance from the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office before the issuance of the Mayor’s Permit, was approved yesterday by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on first reading.
The measure authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said that to put to good use funds allocated for cooperatives, there is a need to implement mechanisms that would ensure that only legitimate and performing cooperatives receive local government subsidy and support.
It also said the city has promulgated City Ordinance No. 145 creating the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office and under it, funds are made available for the use of cooperatives for advancing their goals.*CGS
