Punish pork plunderers,
group set for rally calls

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negrosanons Kontra Korapsyon yesterday issued a manifesto calling for the immediate investigation, prosecution, conviction and punishment of all those who misused and abused the pork barrel funds.

“We are enraged by how some of our legislators/public officials and line agency heads, in connivance with unscrupulous NGOs and their accomplices, have perpetuated systematic plunder and deliberate abuse of the PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) through the years," the group said.

The group that posted its manifesto on its Facebook page, “Tipon Negrosanon - Pork Barrel Untaton”, is set to stage a rally in front of the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City at 9 a.m. today.moremoremore

‘PDAF cases in
Bacolod need closure'

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia yesterday said the best insurance against a repeat of the pork barrel funds abuse is to prosecute cases involving it.

On the eve of the Million People March, Leonardia called for the swift prosecution of cases involving the abuse of pork barrel funds, a press release from his office said.

Bacolod, for example, needs to see closure on the P39-million computer procurement scandal, Leonardia said. Now pending at the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas, the case is about the alleged overpricing and ghost deliveries of computers using the pork barrel funds of former Rep. Monico Puentevella.moremoremore

Ramos: Monico initiated
takeover of Bredco port
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A change of heart?

Former Bacolod Councilor Dindo Ramos yesterday said he was surprised at the statement of Mayor Monico Puentevella on the issue of the city's takeover of the BREDCO port that he himself had initiated when he was still a congressman.

Ramos said the “takeover ordinance” is supposed to defend the interest of the city, so, as Mayor, it is the obligation of Puentevella to defend this law.

Ramos was reacting to the statement of Puentevella that he will “renegotiate” with the BREDCO after the Court had ruled in the civil case it filed against the city involving the ”takeover ordinance.”.moremoremore
