Guv: Capitol reorg
creating more jobs

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Former Budget Secretary Salvador Enriquez, who heads CPRM Consultants Inc., was in Negros Occidental yesterday for the final presentation by his firm of its recommendations on the reorganization of the provincial government.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the recommendation means the hiring of about 100 more personnel to meet the growing services offered by the provincial government, the merging of some offices, and the abolition of the Cooperative Office, which functions have become redundant.

The additional personnel will be needed for the recently established provincial blood bank that will be operating 24/7, the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Care Program, agriculture laboratory, office of trade and investment promotions and the veterinarian’s office, the governor said.moremoremore

to Makati City jail

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged brains behind the P10 billion pork barrel scam, was safely transported to the Makati City Jail at about 11:20 last night.

The handcuffed Napoles was clad in a pink sweatshirt and a black bullet-proof vest.

Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte were at the Makati City Jail when Napoles arrived.

Some Negrenses aired concerns yesterday over “special treatment” of Napoles following her surrender to President Benigno Aquino Wednesday night.moremoremore

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella yesterday said his administration plans to restore the Charter Day celebration of Bacolod City to October 19 since this is a special year as the city turns 75.

Puentevella said this is what makes this year’s MassKara Festival different compared from those in the past.

He said they have invited business tycoon Manny Pangilinan to be the guest of honor and speaker during the Charter Day program.moremoremore
