MANILA - The Philippine practical shooting team returned to the country Sunday night, bringing home 23 gold, 21 silver, and 10 bronze medals from the Far East Asian Handgun Competition held at the THPSA Shooting Range in Pattaya, Thailand.
Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto Mangudadatu, head of the Philippine practical shooting team and president of the Philippine Practical Shooting Association, said the country’s team competed against 489 shooters from 26 countries in the 25-stage, level 4 shooting event sanctioned by the International Practical Shooting Confederation.
Among the shooters who brought home the gold medals were those from the all-women Filipino team composed of Angela Ramos, Lydia Cuyong, Grace Aldonza, Mary Grace Tan, and Customs Collector Carmelita Talusan.
Wali Mangudadatu bagged the gold medal for the Junior Open Division, Leonardo Gino Jr. won the gold medal for the Revolver Division, while Jag Leano bagged another gold for the Male Open Division category.
Jerome Morales won second place in the Classic Division, Janice Navato and Kirsten Jon Gino also bagged gold and bronze medals, respectively.
The same team also won 30 gold medals from a shooting competition held in Australia recently. *PNA
