NOPSSCEA, area V clinched
final spot in boy’s volleyball

The NOPSSCEA selection from St. Joseph School – La Salle and University of St. La Salle booked the first final seat in secondary division, while Area V moved one win away from clinching the gold in the elementary department of the 2013 Palarong Panlalawigan (Provincial Meet) volleyball boys’ competition.

The high school spikers from Negros Occidental private schools stayed unbeaten in the tournament as they beat Area III in two straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, and earned a twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round.

Despite the loss, Area III remains a contender for the gold as they take on Area II today with the winner advancing to the finals against NOPSSCEA.

PHL Wushu team wins 8th medals

The Philippines wushu team ended their campaign in the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar with eight medals tucked under its belt.

Daniel Parantac delivered another gold medal for the Filipinos on Tuesday when he topped the men’s taijiquan and taijijian. The wushu team had a total of three gold, three silver, and two bronze medals in the tournament.

Aside from Parantac, the two other gold medalists for the Philippine team were Jessie Aligaga and Dembert Arcita, while Evita Zamora and Divine Wally settled for the silver medal in their respective event.

Team B prevails in
Ayala cagefest

Tommy Andren scored 15 points to lead Team B past Team C, 74-73, in the latest match-up of the Ayala Basketball Club tournament at the Ayala Clubhouse in Talisay City.

After 15-10 first quarter advantage, Team B’s offense sputtered in the second quarter as Team C stepped on the gas and took the lead, 32-28 at the break.

Keeping pace with Team in the third quarter, Team B was bailed out of trouble by Willy Dasal, who scored eight points, and Joey Jesena, who delivered two treys, to keep the game close going into the fourth quarter.
