City Hall Press Corps
The officers of the Bacolod City Hall Press Corps, led by Carla Cañet of Sun.Star Bacolod, took their oath of office before Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella Saturday in Bacolod City.
The other officers are Chrysee Samillano (DAILY STAR) – vice president, Analiza Sorilla (Bombo Radyo) – secretary, Rox Estrella (DYRL) – treasurer, and Claudine Genanda (Negros Daily Bulletin) – auditor.
Members of the Board of Directors are Ranie Azue (Watchmen Daily Journal), May Singuay (Panay News), Barbara Mijares (ABS-CBN), Art Tayhopon (Aksyon Radyo), Dolores Epacta (Negros Weekly), Jemlo Victosa (RMN-DYHB), and Erwin Nicavera (GMA TV).
The members are Henceboy Cestina (DYKB), Dolly Yasa (Daily Guardian), Teresa Ellera (Sun.Star Bacolod/DYRL), Rey Alejandrino (DYAF), Chito Berjit (DYAF) and Danny Dancalan, (Negros Daily Bulletin).
Members of the Board of Council are Rolly Espina and William Henry Streegan (Negros Daily Bulletin), with Edith Colmo (Negros Daily Bulletin) as ex-oficio member.*

Chamber holds
relief operations
The Chamber Fire Brigade recently held relief operations for survivors of super-typhoon “Yolanda” in Cadiz and Sagay cities in Negros Occidental, Estancia, Iloilo City, Bantayan Island in Cebu and Tacloban City in Leyte, its press release said.
The volunteers coordinated with the city and Department of Social Welfare and Development officials to facilitate their relief operations, and donations, like packs of noodles, rice, sardines, milk, medicine, toiletries, bed mats and blankets, from organizations and individuals were immediately distributed to the affected residents, the press release added.* back to top

Feeding set in
7 public schools
A special feeding program for students of seven public schools in Cadiz and Sagay cities in Negros Occidental will be held January to March 2014 by the University of St. La Salle-Institute for Negros Development, and its partner, Jollibee Group Foundation, a press release from the school said.
It will be conducted at the Don Ricardo Jesena Sr. Elementary School and Hon. P.R. Villena Memorial ES in Cadiz, and the Suyac Primary School, Molocaboc IS, Molocaboc II ES, Matabas ES, and PR Katalbas I ES in Sagay, the press release also said.
The collaborative program of USLS, JGF, the Department of Education and the two city governments aims to address hunger and malnutrition among school children, and encourage them to go back to school.
Cadiz and Sagay were severely hit by super-typhoon “Yolanda” on Nov. 8, so the special feeding program was decided, the press release also said.
Since the BLT is on its fifth year of implementation, the Balayan Social Development Office, Business Resource Center, and USLS-IS Community Services Center, and the Rotary Club of Bacolod South also committed support to it, the press release added.* back to top  |
