Bacolod Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. conducted the second public hearing on the ordinance he authored that will create a Drinking Water Supply and Quality Monitoring Council Thursday at the Bacolod City Government Center Session Hall, a press release from his office said.
It was suggested during the hearing, that water supply within the City of Bacolod be classified into the BACIWA-serviced and non-BACIWA serviced areas, the press release said.
The proposed Quality Monitoring Council will gather reports from accredited agencies already tasked to subject drinking water systems to laboratory tests, such as BACIWA, Villanueva Clinical Laboratories, Negros Prawn Producers Marketing Cooperative Inc., and Corazon Locsin-Montelibano Memorial Hospital, and to take appropriate recommendatory action for appropriation ordinance and remedial measures, it also said.
Taken into consideration was the formation of a Technical Working Group that will conduct inventory of all drinking water supply sources and facilities, perform sanitary survey through scientifically acceptable water sampling of all drinking water supply sources and facilities, and evaluate laboratory water analysis results as to compliance with Philippine National Standard for Drinking Water, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order no. 26-A, and Philippine Clean Water Act 2004, the press release said.
The TWG will also review the annual water supply and quality monitoring plan of water districts and other drinking water services providers, recommend appropriate measures to correct deficiency in water quality to the Bacolod City Drinking Water Supply and Quality Monitoring Council and inform the water provider of the results of water quality monitoring, the release also added.* back
