Arnulfo Teves was re-elected unopposed as president of the provincial Association of Barangay Councils Federation in the election held at the legislative building in Dumaguete City yesterday.
Teves, Bayawan ABC president who garnered 15 votes in the polls conducted by the provincial Department of Interior and Local Government, will sit as ex-oficio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Barangay Captain Gina Estrella of ABC-Siaton won as vice-president after Edgar Teves Jr. of ABC-Valencia withdrew his candidacy. The other officers of the Negros Oriental ABC Federation are Chona Agustino of ABC-Ayungon, auditor; and Lesita Granada - Jimalalud, Joel Tugaoen - Zamboanguita, Louie Palomar - Manjuyod, Jason Vasquez - Sta. Catalina, and Cresenciano Joseph - San Jose as members of the Board of Directors.
Of the 25 ABC presidents in the six cities and 19 towns of Negros Oriental, those absent from the polls were Lionel Banogon of Dumaguete City, Denver Bokingkito - Tanjay City, Restituto Figues Jr. - Bacong, Anna Marie Villanueva - Bindoy, Roy Anthony Opada - La Libertad, Archer Baldado - Pamplona, Desiada Inoferio - Sibulan, Edgar Teves Jr. - Valencia, and Jomarie Badoy - Bais City.
Guihulngan ABC president Filomeno Reyes was present but was not allowed to vote after it was discovered that he has unpaid dues.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo administered the oaths to the new provincial ABC Federation officials.
The election was witnessed by Salustiano Jimenez of the Department of Education, Gildo Agoncillo of the Commission on Elections-Dumaguete and Msgr. Julius Heruela, head of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting in the province.*JFP
