Christmas benefit bazaar set

A Christmas benefit bazaar “Shop to Share” will be held by the St. John's Institute Alumni Volunteers , a group of high school friends, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on December 20-22, at the Msgr. John B. Liu Activity Center in Bacolod City, a press release from the organizers said.

All proceeds and rental fees of t enants will be used for the rehabilitation of the Suyac I sland mangrove eco-park in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, that was affected by super-typhoon “Yolanda” Nov. 8, the press release also said.

Suyac is the closest island to Sagay and is accessible by motorized outrigger for a 20 - minute ride from the port of Old Sagay . It became famous for its children who have to swim the two-kilometer stretch of open sea just to go to school.

Before “Yolanda”, the 32,000-hectare island was declared a marine reserve area by the Sagay City government. It has also been luring tourists because of its century-old mangrove trees .

PWD variety show up

Persons with disabilities in Bacolod City will celebrate the PWD International Day with a variety show at the Negros Farmers Weekend Market at Magsaysay Street in Bacolod, 4-6 p.m. December 28, a press release from the city said.

Pianist Bagguer Villaluz will entertain the PWDs and guests from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will join the PWD performers in the variety show that is supported by Josefa Puentevella, Alfonso Luis Tan of the Bacolod LA Filipinas Traders, the Capitol Subdivision Inc., Riverside Medical Center Inc., Philip and Ruby Cruz, and Ricky Gonzales, the press release added.*
