PNP junks raps versus cop
tagged as Peña bodyguard
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Police Regional Office 6 has dismissed for lack of merit a complaint filed against a policeman for serious irregularity in the performance of duty for acting as bodyguard of former Pulupandan Mayor Magdaleno Peña.

The decision dismissing the complaint lodged against PO2 Pedrito Lupo was signed by Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz on December 10, a copy of which was provided the DAILY STAR yesterday by Peña's staff.

On May 2, members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Special Action Force raided the ancestral house of Peña in Barangay Ubay, Pulupandan, while another team of SAF men raided the PNP Community Assistance Center some distance away and arrested several persons, including Lupo.

Based on the evidence at hand, the complaint against Lupo could not prosper, it has no leg to stand on since no evidence was even presented by the complainant, Chief Inspector Lino Dalisay, to prove that Lupo was acting as a bodyguard for Peña, the decision said.

It was also noted that the place covered by the search warrant was in Barangay Ubay, Pulupandan, and not where the COMPAC is located, making the raid illegal.*CPG
