Raps filed vs. guv, vet;
It's politics, official says
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A Bacolod lawyer has filed criminal and administrative complaints against Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena before the Office of the Ombudsman for the Visayas for the purchase of alleged overpriced sheep from Australia.

Lawyer Roger Reyes yesterday said he filed the complaint as a concerned citizen on December 23 because the sheep imported by the provincial government did not undergo public bidding, were overpriced and not all were accounted for.

He alleged that the misuse of government money in the purchase of the overpriced sheep, commissions and shipping expenses resulted in losses to the province of Negros Occidental of at least P50 million plus losses due to mortality of the imported sheep, in violation of the Anti Plunder Law.moremoremore

SP recommends 2nd notice
of violation for Safari resort
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government has recommended that Metro Safari Resort in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City, be served a second notice of violation and work stoppage for its alleged continuing defiance of the law.

The committee report endorsed by its chairman, Councilor Caesar Distrito, that requested Metro Safari Resort to do voluntary work stoppage, and for the Mayor, through the City Legal Office, to take the necessary legal action to stop the continued defiance by the establishment, was approved by the Bacolod SP Monday.

Metro Safari Resort, owned by Francis Rey Cabuga, was issued a notice of violation early this month by the Office of the Building Official for the excavation and development of a concrete foundation in the area without the necessary permits from the city.moremoremore
