Negros pugs dominate
2013 sports headlines
Sports page headlines in 2013 featured several come-from-behind victories, Cinderella stories of local Negros personalities and teams who emerged from obscurity to gain national and international recognition.
Negros ring fighters Merlito Sabillo, Genesis Servania, Arthur Villanueva, and Donnie Nietes, who silently rose to fame with their hard-earned wins, topped our list as they conquered the international boxing world this year.
Without much hype, Sabillo snatched the golden opportunity to carve his name in the international boxing scene via technical knockout win against Luis De la Rosa in Colombia in their 12-round fight for the interim WBO minimumweight title on March 9, 2013.
| Class '82 takes lead in Class '82 opened its campaign on a bright note in the premiere division with 2,963 points in the first game of the championship round of the Negros Occidental High School Christmas Cup Inter-class Alumni Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City. Batch '95 was also in the top in Category B with Batch '91 topping Category C. Class '82 is led by Mae Trayfalgar and Azela Ban Tejada and they led in the first game of the final round. |
