A businesswoman was found dead in the restroom of her pension house at Hilado Street, Bacolod City, where she and her family reside, at about 3 a.m. yesterday.

Ma. Karmen Galo, 83, owner of the Karmen Pension had multiple stab wounds on her body and a slash around her neck. She was sitting and leaning on the wall of the restroom when she was found, Station 6 commander Chief Insp. Noel, station 6 commander, said.

Polines said that the victim's son Antonio Galo, and the Pension house checker, Jonalyn Diaz, started looking for the victim when her grandson, whose name was not disclosed, told them that he could not find her when he woke up.

Polines also said that they are ruling out the robbery angle in the killing as her belongings are intact.

Station 6 policemen are eyeing a man, who checked in at the Pension house Sunday with another man and two women, as possible suspects in the killing. However, they are having a hard time as the pension house does not have any record of the guests as their names were not entered in a logbook.

Meanwhile, Laura Silhay, an employee of the pension house, told the police that at about 5 a.m. Sunday the suspect and Galo argued when he and his companions were initially not allowed to rent the same room.

Silhay said that, to end the argument, her employer decided to allow the suspects and his companions to check in, but they checked out an hour later.

She said that a few minutes after his companions had left, the suspect also went out of the Pension house and returned about 2 a.m. yesterday to check out.

Silhay added that she did not hear any commotion inside the establishment before the discovery of Galo's body.

Bacolod City Police Officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel said the Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Bacolod City Police have already gathered evidence at the crime scene to aid in the resolution of the case.

Ordaniel said they will also seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation to make a facial sketch of the suspect.*APN
