San Carlos City was adjudged by the Police Regional Office 6 as best supportive Local Government Unit in Western Visayas during the recent celebration of the 22nd PNP Foundation Day at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.

Police Supt. Joseph Bayan, officer-in-charge of the San Carlos City Police Station, received the award of merit from Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, in behalf of Mayor Gerardo Valmayor Jr.

Since year 2001, the San Carlos City Police Station has consistently adjudged best city police station, of Negros Occidental or of the Western Visayas, during the stint of Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz and Supt. Harold Tuzon, as police chiefs, respectively.

The city government of San Carlos was the only local government unit in the Western Visayas cited during the PNP Foundation Day celebration, where 18 police officers and four civilians were also lauded for their feats in law enforcement.

Cruz also awarded Inspector Lanel Mae Ree Lanado, deputy commander of Station 3, with the PNP Efficiency Medal for the arrest of an elusive wanted person, Reinhart Colango, on Jan. 26 in Bacolod City.

Police Officer 1 Lee Christian Genoveo, a member of the Bacolod City Police Office, ho was wounded during the serving of an arrest warrant to Colango, was conferred with the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting

Colango fired at Genoveo, who was hit in the left hand and right leg. Despite his injuries, Genoveo managed to return fire, hitting the suspect on his right leg, police records show.*GPB
