A former councilor of Bacolod is claiming that the construction of the Northbound terminal in Bacolod City is ridden with violations and suggesting that the city operate it after rescinding the contract with its operator.
At the clarification of Wilson Gambos Jr. however, clarified that he is not against the construction of the Northbound terminal being the author of the Ordinance creating it.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Committee on Transportation and Communications, however, said Gamboa is just using the issue to advance his candidacy.
Ramos said Gamboa was even opposed to the takeover of the port (BREDCO) when in fact, it is owned by the city government and that clear violations of the contract were discovered by the city through a committee.
“Now, he is singing a different tune. He now wants to take over a private property. He should see to it that if it is proposed in the SP, a councilor would second it,” Ramos said.
He said Gamboa should be wary about the property rights of others and should learn to respect.
Gamboa also said the collection of toll fees at the terminal should have authorization from the City Council.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the drivers of the Bata and Mandalagan routes complained about the system at the North terminal during a committee hearing Tuesday.
The drivers only want one loading area at the terminal and suggested that a “first come-first served basis” be observed if there will be two loading areas established, he said.
Sayson said they will wait for the committee report of Ramos, and will adopt whatever are his recommendations on the matter.*CGS
