An 11-year-old grade 6 pupil, who was reportedly raped, died a few hours after she was brought to a hospital in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Tuesday.
The victim had lip and head injuries while her sex organ was badly ruptured when her mother saw her in a sugarcane field at about 7 p.m., Supt. Joseph Bayan, officer-in-charge of San Carlos City police, said yesterday.
Bayan said the victim went to the sugarcane field to answer the call of nature but failed to return after 30 minutes, prompting her mother to look for her.
He said the victim's mother found her lying on the ground lying on the ground soaked in her own blood in the sugarcane field that is about 30 to 40 meters away from their house, and immediately brought her to an undisclosed hospital, where she died while being treated.
The police theorized that the suspect hit the victim's head and dragged her towards the sugarcane plantation, where he raped and attempted to kill her. There are also indications that the victim was choked as there were hematoma marks around her neck.
As of yesterday, the San Carlos police had invited two men for questioning in connection with the incident as they have records of complaint for being alleged "peeping-Toms" but were released immediately when their finger prints were compared to that of the finger prints did not match those recovered from the crime scene, Bayan said.
The San Carlos City police have no witnesses yet to shed light on the incident because there are no residences near the place where it happened but they believe that the suspect lives in the area.*APN back
