A construction worker was arrested by the police in a barangay in Bacolod City Tuesday for allegedly molesting his son, two daughters and a step-son, who are all minors, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, City Police Women and Children's Complaints desk chief, said yesterday.
The 29-year-old wife of the construction worker told the police that she saw her husband molesting her 7-year-old son at their house at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and sought the help of Bantay Bata Negros.
The staff of Bantay Bata Negros reported the incident to the WCCD operatives, who arrested the suspect at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect's wife also claimed that he had raped their one-year-old and three-year-old daughters, and molested their five year-old son but did not report to the police because she was afraid of her husband, who, she said, abuses her.
Medical examinations showed that the one-year-old and three-year-old victims had, indeed, been raped.
On the same day, two other men were also arrested for raping their niece and cousin, in two barangays in Bacolod, Cabcaban said.
A 64-year-old man was arrested by the police at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when his wife reported that he raped her 11-year-old niece at their house, Cabcaban said.
The victim, who does not know how to read or write, had been abandoned by her father since her mother died and had been living with her aunt and the suspect for some time now, Cabcaban said.
A 33-year-old construction worker was also arrested by barangay tanods in Bacolod City following complaints of his 15-year-old cousin, who claimed that the suspect inserted his finger into her private part at their house at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The teenager sought the help of a relative, who accompanied her to the barangay hall to report the incident. The tanods then arrested the suspect and endorsed him to the police.
The three arrested men are now detained at the lock-up cell of a police station in Bacolod and rape charges will be filed against them.* APN
