The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos futsal team won the title in the 8-Under and 13-Under categories, while St. John Institute prevailed in 11-Under group of the 1st St. John’s Football Club–Monsignor’s Cup Futsal Tournament held Feb. 9–10 at the Msgr. John B. Liu Activities Center of St. John’s Institute in Bacolod City, a press release from tournament organizers said.

In the 8-Under event, University of St. La Salle-Integrated School finished first runner-up, while West Negros University was at third place. Taking the first and second runner-up honors in the 11-Under division were the USLS-IS and UNO-R squads, while Daisy ABC School placed second and SJI finished third in the 13-Under competition, the press release said.

In the Ladies Open, La Niña of USLS Nursing Alumni was crowned champion, while USLS team placed first runner-up, and Rizal Elementary School, second runner-up, the press release said.

Champion in the 17-under Girls’ category was St. Scholastica’s Academy 1 with USLS as first runner-up and SSA Team 2 settled for second runner-up.

Don Bosco Technical Institute was champion in the 17-Under Boys with USLS and SJI taking the first and second runner-up honors.

For 15-Under Boys, UNO-R bagged the championship with WNU as first runner-up and WNU, second runner-up.

The tournament was organized by the St. John’s Football Club headed by Emil Miraflores, with the support of the St. John’s Institute family headed by its principal Fr. Emil Ascaño; Board of Trustees president Dennis Coo, Alumni president Stephen Tan, and sports moderator Martin Sadongdong, the press release added.*
