| Negros wins chess, After a dominating performance in swimming, Negros Occidental athletes went on to bag the championship in elementary boys and secondary boys and girls’ chess, as well as the elementary boys and girls’ table tennis to remain ahead in the overall tally of the 2013 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Roxas City yesterday. The Negrenses, however, bowed to Iloilo in elementary boys’ basketball and football in their separate championship games yesterday, while the secondary baseball team won the gold by beating the Ilonggos, 4-1, in the final game. Iloilo won the gold in sepak takraw. In chess, Lyster Franz Andador won the gold in Board 1 while his teammate Gintle Khey settled for silver in Board 2 to register a strong finish for Negros in secondary boys’ competition. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
