to raise funds
The Negros Occidental Filipino-Chinese Amity Organization recently launched its annual fund-raising raffle promo to raise funds for the improvement and expansion of its operations through the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade and Amity Emergency Services Organization, its press release said.
The grand prize is a Hyundai Elantra 2012, and two 42-inch LCD TVs and three 32-inch LCD TVs are at stake for the second and third prizes, respectively. The final draw is on March 31.
Tickets are sold at P1,000 and are available at the Amity office at Hilado Street, Capitol Shopping Center, in Bacolod City.
The Amity volunteer group has been helping Bacoleños in the past 35 years. Its services and programs include the establishment of the Rescue 161 Communication Center, fire prevention and suspension, rescue, emergency medical services, public safety education programs, and the disaster preparedness program, the press release also said.
Amity also hopes to increase its rescue teams among local government units and to produce more volunteers.
The Amity Brigade has 13 emergency vehicles composed of five ambulances, two fire engines, two fire tankers, three rescue units, and an aerial unit. The brigade also has a jet ski, a rigid hull, and a rubber boat, the press release added.*

700 Isabela students get
educational assistance
Seven hundred grantees from Isabela town received P2,000 each during the distribution of educational assistance and awarding ceremony, led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Rep. Alejandro Mirasol (Neg. Occ., 5th District) and Board Member Melvin Ibañez at La Consolacion College, Isabela, Saturday, a Capitol press release said.
Mirasol said the educational assistance is one of the scholarship programs he initiated last year.
He said P1.4 million was allocated to every town/city in the 5th District and it was only Isabela that had not received the allocation.
Marañon emphasized to the students the importance of good education as a social equalizer in the community and urged them to study well, the press release said.
The governor also shared the benefits and opportunities of the ICT industry, especially the programs of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center, it added.* back to top  |
