| Suspected drug peddler
apprehended in buy-bust
A suspected drug peddler was nabbed by the Bacolod City Police Special Operations Group in a buy-bust operation at about 1:30 p.m. yesterday in Brgy. 22, Bacolod.
CAIDSTOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said this is the third time that Gilberto Aplasca, “alias Toto and Pancho”, 56, of Purok Mapalaron, in Brgy. 22, has been arrested for an illegal drug offense.
Aplasca was arrested after he handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P300. Around P3,320 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal drugs sale, and a cellular phone, were also recovered from Aplasca, Rapiz said.
He added that intelligence reports gathered by CAIDSTOG show that Aplasca is the lone supplier of illegal drugs in Barangay 22.
Rapiz’s team had arrested Aplasca on March 28, 2012 and seized from him a big plastic sachet of suspected shabu, another small plastic sachet of the banned substance, a pair of scissors and a lighter. He was charged for possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia, but was able to post bail for his temporary freedom, police records show.
Aplasca was also arrested several years back by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, then headed by Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño, for illegal drug possession, Rapiz said.
The suspect is now detained at the Bacolod City police headquarters, and charges for illegal drug sale will be filed against him.
Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines, also reported the arrest of drug suspect Ryan Fernandez, 27, in Purok Violeta, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, yesterday.
Fernandez was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant for illegal drug possession issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymund Javier, who set his bail at P120,000.*APN back

Suspect in death
of student unknown
The Valladolid police are still trying to determine the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a graduating Education student of Bago City College, whose body was found in a barangay of the town Monday, its chief, Senior Insp. Anthony Burgos, said yesterday.
Joemarie Machan Jr., 21, of Purok Mainuswagon in Brgy. Saguwa Banwa, Valladolid, a part-time tricycle driver, was found dead with multiple stab wounds at about 6:30 a.m. Monday at a rice field in Purok Akasya, Brgy. Bayabas, Valladolid.
Burgos said they were looking into robbery as the motive for the killing as Machan’s money and tricycle were gone. The vehicle, however, was recovered at about 10 a.m. Tuesday at crossing Aguisan in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Burgos said there could be another reason for the killing, and has tasked Police Officer 3 Jeoffrey Garde to conduct an in-depth investigation.*APN back
