Two bonnet-wearing men on a motorcycle fatally shot a “llamador (cock derby bet caller)” at about 1:15 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

City police director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, identified the victim as Conrado Jara, 50, of Purok Ravadilla in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod.

Investigation showed that Jara and his companion, whose name the police withheld for security reasons, were coming out of the Negros Coliseum when the suspects arrived and shot Jara.

Jara, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Nine empty shells of a 9-milimeter pistol were recovered at the crime scene, a police report showed.

While they are looking into the possibility that the killing of Jara was job-related, the police are also entertaining other angles, De la Paz said.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Station 7 and Barangay Mansilingan officials are offering a P10,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of a teenager, suspected of stabbing to death a barangay tanod Saturday.

Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue, said they went to Victorias City and in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, where the suspect, Eric Gallantes, 19, of Purok Paglaum, Mansilingan, could be hiding but failed to find him.

Gallantes, who was on board his motorcycle, allegedly stabbed Edgardo Dizon, 58, of Purok Guanzon, Brgy. Mansilingan, as he was coming out of the Home for the Blind compound in Purok Paglaum.

Dizon sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

The motive for the stabbing could have been robbery, but maybe because Dizon fought back, Gallantes decided to kill him, Pangue said.*APN
