Police arrests 2 in city
for jai alai operations

A man and a woman were arrested while reportedly distributing “jai alai” tipsters in Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City, at about 8 a.m. Sunday.

Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz, head of the Bacolod City Police Office Investigation and Detection Management Branch, identified those arrested as Doroteo, 56, and Rosela, 42, both surnamed Vallejo, and of Purok 10 in Barangay Alangilan.

He added that policemen were conducting patrol operations when they spotted the suspects distributing tipsters to some bettors in Purok Bantug in the barangay.

Recovered from the suspects were tipsters with the codename “Fronton” dated Jan. 6, 2013, two bundles of betting stubs, 14 tally sheets, a pad paper with number combinations, and a gray Rusi motorcycle with plate number IH7578, police records show.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9287, or illegal gambling, will be filed against the Vallejos before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office. They are now detained at the lockup cell of Police Station 5.*Shiela May Gelera
