The Philippine National Police has ordered the recall of its security personnel assigned to public officials effective tomorrow and will begin enforcing a comprehensive gun ban as the four-month election period kicks off.

The election period that begins tomorrow will end on June 12, while election day is on May 13.

With the election period to start tomorrow, the Philippine National Police yesterday released a list of guidelines for the conduct of checkpoints, while also soliciting the cooperation of the public.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, also reminded PNP members to strictly observe standard operating procedures in the conduct of checkpoints, and encouraged the public to report any misbehavior of law enforcers .

On the same day, the police will enforce the Comelec gun ban, that aims to reduce election-related violence in the May 13 elections.moremoremore

De la Paz thanks Bacoleños

Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday thanked Bacoleños and the local government unit for their support during his two-year stint as Director of Bacolod City Police Office.

The two-year tour of duty of De la Paz is supposed to end today but, as of press time yesterday, Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz said, there was no relief order for him yet.

Until last night, Camp Crame had not approved the request for the installation of an Officer-in-charge for the BCPO.moremoremore
