of NPC mayoral bet

The Commission on Elections en banc has denied the certificate of candidacy filed by Jubert Pedrano Katalbas as substitute candidate for mayor of Sagay City in Negros Occidental.

The COMELEC en banc issued its decision in Minute Resolution No. 13-0011 dated January 3, Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.

Jubert Pedrano Katalbas was nominated by the Nationalist People’s Coalition in substitution for Rufino Katalbas, who had filed an affidavit repudiating his NPC certificate of nomination and acceptance as Sagay mayoral bet, and declared himself an independent candidate on Oct. 23, 2012.moremoremore

Bacolod mayoralty candidate Julius Sayson has not yet been removed by the Commission on Elections from the list of official candidates for mayor of Bacolod City, and his name was not included among the local candidates recently disqualified by the Commission.

Bacolod Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia yesterday said the COMELEC has declared 63 individuals as nuisance candidates while 10 others have been found ineligible for the positions they are seeking, based on COMELEC Resolution 9610.

Church launching
protest vs. RH law

The Diocese of Bacolod will launch its stepped-up protest against the controversial birth control law that took effect in the Philippines yesterday, on the Feast of San Sebastian that will be celebrated in Bacolod City Sunday, Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said.

St. Sebastian is the patron saint of the Diocese of Bacolod.

The launching of the Diocesan-wide protest against the RH Law will be spearheaded by Navarra together with the clergy, religious congregations and the laity.moremoremore
