Campaign set in Negros
vs. pro RH law legislators
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Citizens’ Alliance for Protection of Human Life, which includes members of the clergy led by Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra, yesterday vowed to continue the fight against the implementation of the reproductive health law through a provincewide campaign, that will include a call to vote against legislators who supported the passage of Republic Act 10354.

The campaign will kick off as the Diocese of Bacolod marks the Feast of San Sebastian at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City with a mass at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Diocese of Bacolod Vicar General Louie Galbines, at a press conference at the Bishop’s House yesterday, read the CAPH-Life manifesto opposing RA 10354, otherwise known as an Act Providing for a National Policy on Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health, that is being circulated throughout Negros Occidental for signatures of support.moremoremore

Mayoral bet to file
MR on denial of COC
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Nationalist People’s Coalition candidate for mayor in Sagay City yesterday said that, as soon as he receives a copy of the denial by the Commission on Elections of his Certificate of Candidacy, he will file a motion for reconsideration.

Jubert Pedrano Katalbas said he was not given due process because the COMELEC did not ask for his side.

On January 3, the COMELEC en banc denied Katalbas’ COC as a substitute candidate for mayor of Sagay City in Negros Occidental.moremoremore

They have no hearts – guv;
Employees used as bait: BM

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday charged those opposing the passage of the 2013 budget with having “no hearts”, reiterating that they are not only hurting the Capitol employees but the poor of the province.

He also denied charges of allies of Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr., who form the majority in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, that the members of the minority aligned with him are the ones delaying the passage of the 2013 budget.

“To say that the minority is delaying the passage of the budget defies logic. Where have you seen the minority dictating upon the majority?” he asked.moremoremore
