Revenue Region 12 of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, in Bacolod City recorded P6,288,740,194.46 in tax collection for 2012, which is 0.50 percent higher than its collection goal, a BIR collection report showed yesterday.
BIR regional director Perfecto Aranas said the increase of P31,528,194.46 was the result of the intensified tax campaigns, dialogs, seminars, and public awareness campaign on the obligations and responsibilities of tax payers.
The 2012 collection of four revenue district offices include RD 76-Victorias City with P624,215,973; RD 77-Bacolod City with PP3,516,760,024.95; RD 78-Binalbagan with P639,954,192.60; and RD 79-Dumaguete City with P1,507,810,003.91, the report also showed.
Compared to the 2011 collection of P5,255,088,500.43, last year’s accomplishment is 19.67 percent higher, Aranas also said.
Meanwhile, the BIR head office announced that it is expecting higher a collection from individual taxpayers this year by 16.4 percent because of drive against tax evaders.
The BIR head office had earlier issued a statement that it is eyeing a P258.14 billion collection from individual taxes this year, up from P221.77 billion last year, adding that a fifth of their annual tax collection comes from individual income taxes.*LTG
