Carmelite spirituality
lectures set

A lecture series on Carmelite spirituality on the occasion of the Year of Faith and the third visit of the pilgrim relics of St. Therese will be conducted, with Msgr. Victorino Rivas, judicial vicar of the Diocese of Bacolod, as lecturer, on three Mondays of February.

The lectures will be held 6–8 p.m. on February 4, 11, and 18 at the Agape House of the Carmelite Monastery in Mandalagan.

The lectures will discuss the teachings of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Therese of Lisieux. They will focus on Carmelite spirituality, not only as the legacy of the past, but also as priceless possession of the present, and a guarantee of the future.

They aim to provide the faithful with a fundamental inspiration and firm roots in the experience of God, and to underline the relevance of connecting the demands of contemporary spirituality with the classics as outlined in the spirituality taught by St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Therese of Lisieux.

Invited to attend the lecture series are campus ministries, religion and Christian learning teachers, lay associations and movements. Those interested to join may call the secretariat at 441-1446 and look for Faye Lamprea or Tess Bongco.

A series of seminar workshops that is part of the catechesis on the life and message of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, in preparation for the saint’s third pilgrim relics visit in Negros Occidental, has also been launched last Jan. 9 and will end on February 7.

The pilgrim relics of St. Therese will visit Bacolod on March 5–7.*
