Home players dominate
Cadiz City badminton tilt

Local badminton players from the host Cadiz dominated the 1st 2013 Mayor Patrick G. Escalante Badminton Cup held at the multi-purpose hall in Negros Occidental.

Winners for Cadiz were Kerr Longno in the boys’ single under-15, with Kenneth Caracena taking the silver medal. Longno and Caracena tandem also won for them the gold in the boys’ double under-15.

Cadiz City’s Clarence Villaflor dominated the boy’s single under-9 over Trinity Christian School Lui France Lomugdang and teamed up with Paul Saturinas to bag the title in the same category for boys’ double.

The host city’s John Mark Valenzuela also won the boys’ single under-13, while Judd Anglo of St. John’s Institute placed second, while Cadiz city Mark Stevin Openiano and Bacolod Tay Tung High School Sean De Jesus settled for bronze medals.

Also of Cadiz, John Eugene Baricaua and John Mark Valenzuela ruled the boys’ double under-13 over Bacolod Tay Tung High School Sean De Jesus and St. Scholastica’s Academy combined Cody Torres.

Bago City won the title in girl’s double under 15 with the tandem of Danielle Grace Lopez and Pamela Joy Lopez against Cadiz City Asia Demasu-ay and Mitzi Joy Sun.

Bago City’s Alex-Z Buenavista and Daphne Park in the girls’ double under-11 winning over St. Scholastica’s Academy tandem of Aira Gallardo and Keisha Tupas.

Two Cadiz City teams led by Izza Mae Catagman and Phoebe Villaflor; and Denise Agudo and Sofia Betita settled for bronze medals.

Bago City Danielle Grace Lopez won over Cadiz City’s bet Mitzi Joy Sun in the finals to bag the Girls U-15 singles by beating Yasmine Alexandra Chua of Bacolod Tay Tung High School in the semis.

Pamela Lopez also won the Girls U-13 singles crown after beating Trinity Christian School’s Susmita Angelique Ramos in the finals.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian School’s Marian Ledesma ruled the girl’s single under-9 winning over Bacolod Tay Tung High School Reza Tolosa.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School RB Rosadia and EJ Templora dominated the boys’ double under-11 beating Cadiz City’s Lanz Louise Aguila and Danz Andrew Villanueva tandem.

Kenneth Delfin of BTTHS won over John Vincent Saturinas of Cadiz City to grab the Boys U-11 Singles; while the combined players of Yana Chua of Bacolod Tay Tung High School and Katrina Togado of St. Scholastica’s Academy won over Trinity Christian School Susmita Angelique Ramos and Faith Ta-ala in the girls’ double under-13.

St. Scholastica’s Academy Aira Gallardo won over host-team’s Leigh Echavez during the finals in the girl’s single under-11.

This badminton tournament is part of the 39th Dinagsa Festival celebration Cadiz City under the supervision of Cadiz City Sports Coordinator Bany John Sarabia and the chairmanship of Councilor William Tabanao.*PNA
