Station 2 policemen have launched a manhunt operation against a security guard who fatally shot a sales manager of a Manila-based company at the Bacolod City reclamation area past noon yesterday.

Mark Barrientos, 34, of Brgy. Tagukon in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, and employed by the Golden Summit Security Agency, immediately fled after allegedly shooting Valeriano Agpulos, 52, of Malabon City, Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said.

Agpulos died on the spot from a lone gunshot wound on his head, police records show.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 Christopher Profeta showed that Agpulos, who is employed as sales manager of the Red Maple Company, arrived at the Universal Harvesters Incorporated, where Barrientos is detailed, at about 12:15 p.m. to collect money.

However, since no one could entertain Agpulos as the employees were on lunch break, he decided to leave, Dejucos said.

Minutes later, the employees heard two successive gunshots and when they peeked through the window, they saw Agpulos lying face down on the pavement and bathed with blood, while Barrientos was running away, Dejucos added.

He said they seized a slug of a .9 milimeter pistol and a slug of the same caliber from the crime scene.

As of press time yesterday, the motive for the shooting was still being investigated because the witnesses who saw Barrientos and Agpulos arguing would not give statements.*APN
