Board Member Nehemias de la Cruz, who is running for a congressional post in the 1st district of Negros Occidental, “lived up” to his campaign motto as “Present”, by scoring a perfect attendance in regular sessions of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan last year.

The campaign motto of de la Cruz which is “Present” apparently refers to the numerous absences of his political opponent, Rep. Julio Ledesma IV, at the House of Representatives.

Other board members with perfect attendance are Salvador Escalante Jr., Miller Serondo and Raul Rivera, while Vice-Gov. Genaro Alvarez, Board Members Mae Javellana, Jose Benito Alonzo, Pedro Zayco incurred one absence each.

Board Member Thea Mae Dino, representative of the Sangguniang Kabataan to the provincial council, had 12 absences, Board Member Melvin Ibanez – 5 , Board Member Emilio Yulo III – 4, Board Member George Gitano - 3, and two each for Board Members Rene Gustilo, Manuel Frederick Ko, Patrick Lacson and Helen Zafra, SP records show.

Yulo posted the highest number of absences on official business and official travel with 14. * GPB
