Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Genaro Alvarez Jr. yesterday said that personal attacks should be avoided, apparently referring to the statement of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. that Board Member Patrick Lacson should go back to “rehab” in Cebu.
Lacson is among the allies of Alvarez at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental.
Lacson had said he will push for the salary increases of the Capitol employees to be paid retroactively, even if the budget is passed at a later date.
Marañon called Lacson’s statements far-fetched, and told the media, “Tell him to go back to Cebu for rehab. Go to Cebu and see the records from the hospital where he underwent rehab.”
Alvarez described the statement of Maranon as “ hurtful” not only to Lacson, but also to his family whether it is true or not.
“For me, it should have been avoided,” Alvarez said.* GPB back
