The ambush-slay in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, Sunday has not in any way affected the Internal Peace and Security Plan Bayanihan of the government, Col. Francisco Patrimonio, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade based in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, said yesterday.

The area of jurisdiction of the brigade includes Negros Oriental and parts of Negros Occidental.

Patrimonio said some observers have the wrong impression that the La Castellana ambush, where one policeman and eight civilians were killed and 12 others wounded, will require the government to review the IPSP Bayanihan.

A suspected drug pusher was nabbed in a buy-bust operation by joint operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, city police, and the National Bureau of Investigation Monday night in Dumaguete City.

Police identified the suspect as Timogen Lim, 43, of Brgy. Candauay, Dumaguete, who was arrested after he handed a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500.

Seized from Lim were three transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and the marked money, police records show..

DSWD launches anti-epal
campaign to protect 4Ps

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has launched the anti-epal campaign to protect the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the government, a government press release said yesterday.

Aileen Lariba of the DSWD Region 7 said the campaign was launched following reports that some politicians and groups are using the government's anti-poverty program to threaten beneficiaries and take advantage of their votes in the May 13 elections.

She said the beneficiaries should be aware that only the DSWD regional and national offices are authorized to delist their names from the 4Ps roster, and only if they fail to comply with the conditions of the program.
