Forum for marriage solemnizing
officers slated Friday in Talisay

A seminar-forum on Republic Act 10172 and on the importance of religious ministers to solemnize marriage will be held on Friday at the School of Jesus, Fisheries Road in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, a government press release said.

RA 10172, signed August 2012, is an act further authorizing the city or town civil registrar, or the consul general, to correct the clerical or typographical errors in the day and month in the date of birth or sex of a person appearing in the civil register without the need for judicial order.

National Statistics Office Region 6 director Norman Julag-ay will speak on the constitutional mandate of religious ministers to solemnize marriage and of RA 10172, and NSO-Negros Occidental Provincial Statistics Officer Fred Sollesta on the importance of the religious ministers to have the authority to solemnize marriage, and the common problems encountered, the press release also said.

License application forms for solemnizing officers will be available at the seminar venue. Applicants should fill up the application forms, submit three pieces passport sized photos, a notarized listing of 200 members under one's pastorship, a SECPA copy of the applicant's birth certificate, certificates from the barangay captain and mayor, recommendation from the head minister, photocopy of the SEC registration and a P500 fee for the NSO registration.

Ministers of the Gospel or any religious sect are invited to attend the forum. A P200 fee will be collected from the participants to cover the snack and certificate of attendance, the press release said.

Culinary feast
offered Feb. 7-9

Bacolod City will celebrate the 8 th BacoLaodiat Festival, with a culinary feast for residents and tourists on February 7-9 at the North Capitol Road, and at the Philippine National Bank park in Lacson Street, Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

Festival goers will enjoy a wide array of food choices, with Chinese food tenants and culinary schools set up at the North Capitol Road, and non-Chinese tenants at the PNB Park, that will be converted into a mini-food court, the press release also said.

The Chopsticks Alley at the North Capitol Road will also be one of the attractions during the festivities from Feb. 7-10, with its food walk and night market, lined with colorful booths of Chinese and Filipino food and products and live performances nightly.

Other festival activities are the Chinese lanterns exhibit of ABS-CBN Bacolod at the Robinsons Place Central City Walk until February 15; inter-school Chinese cookfest competition of the University of St. La Salle Hospitality Management Class 4D, Feb. 1, at the Robinsons Place; and the Bacolaodiat Invitational Table Tennis Tournament, Feb. 9-10, Lopue's San Sebastian Annex Building, that will be opened by LOPTTA president and 2013 BacoLaodiat Festival chairman Leonito Lopue, 9 a.m. on Feb. 9, the press release also said.
