Make anti-dengue fight

Provincial Health Officer Ernell Tumimbang yesterday said the fight against the spread of dengue fever should be the number one priority because of the huge increase in the number of cases in recent weeks.

As of yesterday, 15 patients had died from dengue in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.

From January 1 to June 22, there were 2,511 dengue cases reported in Negros Occidental, 717 percent higher than the 307 cases in the same period last year..moremoremore

A 6-year-old boy from Brgy. 34, Bacolod, is the latest dengue hemorrhagic fever fatality, raising the number of deaths in the city to five this year, Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Jovy Vergara said yesterday.

Provincial Health Office reported ten other deaths in Negros Occidental.

John David Anema of Purok Million Flower developed fever on June 20 and was brought three days later to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was diagnosed with dengue, his mother Risa said.moremoremore

BM urges one-island
region push

A resolution asking members of the House of Representatives from Negros Occidental to spearhead the passage of a bill creating a “one island-one region” for Negros has been filed by Board Member Renato Malabor  (5th District) before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Malabor also filed a second resolution expressing strong support of the Negros Occidental SP for the move to make Negros Island one region.

The resolutions filed Monday are up for SP deliberation.moremoremore
