NOPSSCEA defending champion West Negros University downed University of St. La Salle White, 62-44, to prove that they are still the team to beat in the aspirant category of the BCAN pre-NOPSSCEA tournament at the St. John's Institute Activity Center in Bacolod City.
The sophomore and freshmen team of WNU replicated SJI's 86-78 triumph over USLS Green during the opening of the tournament.
USLS Black avenged its sister team loss by beating University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos, 58-34, while Trinity Christian School survived St.Benilde School, 47-45, to share the lead with the early winners.
In the 10-Under division, SJI White blew away St, Benilde School Team B, while HOMI Warriors blasted Bacolod Christian College of Negros. Also posting a win were SJI Blue, who dumped SBSTeam A.
All games shift to USLS IS Covered Court starting July 13 starting at 7:30 a.m., the tournament organizers announced.
SJI Blue and BCCN will face each other in the first game, while SBS-A and HOMI Warriors will clash in the second game at 9 a.m..
Aspirant squads SJI and TCS will play against each other at 10:30 a.m., while SBS will challenge WNU at 12 noon.
Debuting Silay City will test TCS at 1:30 p.m., followed by the game between USLS- IS and SBS. Also scheduled to play are Living Heritage Christian Academy against WNU, with the winner taking solo lead with three wins.
BCAN president Bobby Tee and tournament commissioner Jake Azucena said that Silay City may host one or two playing schedule if the plan pushes through.*NAB
