The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod unanimously “approved the concurrence” of Rolando Villamor as Bacolod City Administrator, during its regular session yesterday.
Villamor said that among his concerns will be the improvement and clearing of the public markets, sidewalk vending, traffic including the terminal leave benefits of casual employees who have resigned.
He said he was tasked by the Mayor to see to it that the casual employees are paid their terminal leave benefits. Last week he signed checks for the payment of 91 terminated casual employees and another 175 plantilla and job order casuals, he said.
Meanwhile, a resolution requesting Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella to prioritize the allocation of the terminal leave benefits of the recently terminated or resigned casual plantilla and co-terminus employees, was approved by the SP yesterday.
Authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito and co-authored by Councilor Alex Paglumotan, the resolution said thousands of city government employees have resigned and were terminated due to the change of the administration and most of them were not able to receive their terminal benefits due to certain problems and time constraints.
Due to the change of administration, these people will no longer have work in the next days and months, and for humanitarian consideration, or recognition of their exemplary service to the city, prioritizing the allocation for their terminal leave benefits will be very noble and will appease their current situation, it said.*CGS
