‘Barker' shot dead in city
BY SHIELA GELERA

A barker, or one who calls passengers to ride public utility vehicles, was shot dead by two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle in front of the Banco De Oro at corner Hernaez-Lopez Jaena streets in Bacolod City, at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, identified the fatality as Adonis Nibla, 20, of Purok Paho, Poblacion, Murcia town in Negros Occidental.

Nibla, who sustained a lone gunshot wound in his back, was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was declared dead at about 11:30 p.m., Gentoleo said.

Investigation showed that Nibla, who was assisting passengers to get into a jeepney, was shot by the back-rider of a white Rusi motorcycle without plate number, with a gun believed to be a .38 caliber revolver.

Gentoleo said old grudges and competition in getting passengers were the motives eyed in the killing of Nibla.

He said no slug or blood stains were found at the crime scene so they believe it had hit Nibla's spinal column.

Gentoleo said the National Bureau of Investigation released the facial sketches of the gunman and the driver who were not wearing bonnets at the time. The sketch shows the gunman to be 30 to 35 years old, at least 5 feet and 6 inches tall, and wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

The driver was described by the witness as 5 feet and 4 inches tall, about 35 to 40 years old, and wearing maong shorts and a T-shirt.

Gentoleo said murder charges will be filed against the suspects, before the Bacolod City Prosecutors Office.*SGG
