PNP: Rebels to face raps
if they nab Alvarez, others
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, Negros Occidental police provincial director, yesterday said the New People’s Army has no authority to issue warrants of arrest because there is only one Philippine government.

Any arrests the NPA forces make will be in violation of Philippine law and charges will be filed against them, he said.

Lirazan was reacting to the announcement of the NPA Apolinario Gatmaitan Command that its regional people’s court has issued warrants of arrest for Ilog Vice Mayor John Paul Alvarez and seven others, whom they tagged as principal suspects in the murder of Kabankalan Judge Henry Arles, and that they are summoning former Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. for questioning.moremoremore

Suspected OMB ‘tipster’
missing, father complains

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A Bacolod City broadcaster yesterday said his 35-year-old daughter has been missing since Sunday and that she had been suspected of giving information that led authorities to the confiscation of more than P11.9 million worth of pirated video compact and digital discs last week.

Rey Alejandrino of Brgy. 35 said the husband of his daughter, Josephine Sosa, reported to the police Tuesday that she had been invited by an alleged big time Muslim distributor of DVD tapes, a certain “Sabe”, who suspected her of reporting them to the authorities, and that she failed to come home since then.

The items were confiscated by the Optical Media Group and the Police Regional Intelligence Unit 6 in the cities of Bacolod, Victorias and Silay on July 10 to 12. moremoremore
