A special day

Heavy rains did not stop us from attending the birthday celebration of our dear friend, Elsie Castro Hinlo, July 27. Her youngest son, chef Rommel, prepared and cooked the mouthwatering dishes that evening as he always does in all occasions held at his mom’s house.

The celebrator’s friends and loved ones were in attendance to be with her on her special day, like Lagi Hinojales, Ging Villarosa Melocoton and husband Pons, who decided to enjoy his retirement in the City of Smiles after 27 years in the Land of Milk and Honey, and daughter in-law, Diane Yulo Hino from Canada.

The buffet party spread was all savory, and the best, for me, were the paella and giant shrimp. The sweets were sumptuous, especially the cake with shredded young coconuts, and seasonal fruits lanzones, santol, lychee, and tamarind.
